Os Rolling Stones conseguem o maior número de indicações ao NME Awards

Os Rolling Stones voltaram para uma breve turnê comemorativa de 50 anos em 2012, mas continuam colhendo os frutos. A banda lidera as indicações no NME Awards, concorrendo em quatro categorias. M.I.A, Tame Impala e Haim também receberam quatro indicações cada. Os vencedores dos 22 troféus serão anunciados no dia 27 de fevereiro, em Londres.

Tame Impala e Haim nunca participaram da premiação. Os Rolling Stones concorrem como "Melhor banda ao vivo", "Melhor livro", "Melhor momento musical do ano" e "Melhor filme musical". Mick Jagger fez comentários sobre o prêmio: "É muito legal ser indicado. Quando vi que estávamos em quatro categorias, pensei 'Oh, caramba! Isso é muito bom!'".

O veterano David Bowie, que também lançou material inédito no último dia 8 de janeiro, teve tempo o suficiente para conseguir três indicações, mesma quantidade do Arctic Monkeys. Os indicados foram escolhidos pelo público a partir de uma votação online. 

O NME Awards reconhece os destaques do ano na música em diferentes categorias. Organizado pela revista britânica NME, é uma alternativa ao Brit Awards e acontece desde 1953.
